TOAD-THING

TOAD-THING
"On the roof, as it were one on each side of him, were two toad-like creatures which seemed constantly to be changing shape and appearance, and from whom emanated, by some means I could not distinguish, a ghastly ululation, a piping which was matched only by the shrill choir of the frogs, now risen to an truly cacophonous height."
H.P. Lovecraft & August Derleth,
The Lurker At the Threshold

  1. Just found your blog. I love how you've taken the time to depict creatures that are little more than suggestions or passing allusions in HPL's work. Have you done anything for Chaosium? I notice a lot of OSR bloggers among your Cultists -- has anyone approached you about illustrating small press RPG stuff?

  2. Hey man, Thanks so much for the kind words. I've acually sent out samples to Chaosium and a few other places but never heard back. I am currently working on some stuff for Adepticon 2011 but all my other work is band related.

  3. If you're at all interested and/or have the time, I have a short list of Lovecraftian deities that to date have no visual representation (i.e. I don't know what they look like). If not, that's cool -- I will continue to monitor your blog avidly! My e-mail is flowthrakeATgmailDOTcom.

  4. Based on that description, it really seems like he's describing the outer god servitor things. But I haven't read Lurker. Is there a context thing I'm missing that makes it clear these are different creatures? Or did you just want to draw more frog monsters? :P
